Japan next on ch(eat) around the world, sure I need Sunday lunch and there is a Japanese restaurant in town…handy!
this is a Oyakodon:-
‘literally “parent-and-child donburi”, is a Japanese rice bowl dish, in which chicken, egg, sliced scallion and other ingredients are all simmered together in a kind of soup that is made with soy sauce and stock, and then served on top of a large bowl of rice.’
I’d say it was getting bit like a risotto with creamy scrambled egg in top.
I like the wee black pot and whatever was in it,
gave chopsticks a go but then gave up as I’d be there all day trying to eat it
Apparently the Paul Simon song ‘Mother and Child Reunion’ got it’s name from a similar dish on a Chinese restaurant menu.
